About the Workshop
Meet at Creekside Socials for this free introduction to the art of Urban Sketching with artist Suhita Shirodkar and the Preservation Action Council of San Jose. Shirodkar is a San Jose-based reportage artist/educator and 2023 San Jose Creative Ambassador whose popular sketchwalks combine exploration and artistic documentation for an unforgettable new perspective on architecture and historic preservation in San Jose. All levels of drawing experience are welcome, and beginners are especially encouraged to participate! Attendees will receive sketching instructions, basic drawing materials and a special accordion-fold sketchbook for capturing the sights and stories behind some of the neighborhood's best hiding-in-plain-sight historic gems. The tour involves some walking (less than 1/2 mile).

On Wednesday, September 11 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., we have a FREE urban sketch walk led by the incredible Sugita Shirodkar (@suhitasketch) and the Preservation Action Council of San Jose.

About Ben Leech | Ben Leech joined PAC*SJ as executive director in 2020. He is a preservation planner and architectural historian by training, as well as an illustrator and printmaker who loves to draw interesting old buildings.
About the Artist | Suhita Shirodkar is a global educator and sketcher using drawing to connect with locations. She conducts sketching workshops, received Knight and Belle Foundation grants, and is San Jose's 2023 Creative Ambassador. Suhita authored books on Urban Sketching and San Jose's vintage signs.
