The Carmel & Thomas Fallon House
This Victorian-style, Gold Rush-era home was built in the 1850s by Irish immigrant Thomas Fallon, San Jose’s ninth mayor, and his wife Carmela Fallon, a descendent of the original Spanish settlers of California. The family lived in this house until 1876.
The Gonzales/Peralta Adobe
The Adobe is the last remaining structure of El Pueblo de San José de Guadalupe, the first Spanish civilian settlement established in California. It was built in 1797 by Apache Indian José Manuel Gonzales, who came to California in 1775-76 as a scout with the de Anza Expedition and served as the town’s first full-term mayor. After Gonzales’ death in 1804, Luís Maria Peralta, a soldier of the de Anza Expedition, purchased the Adobe. He served as the town’s comisionado (1807-1822) and his family called the Adobe home until 1866.
Ornament measures 2.75” wide x 3.25 “ high and is made of brass.
